Mugdock is a special place. Despite its closeness to the major city of Glasgow it provides a rural escape where its possible to enjoy a wide variety of countryside and experience some stunning natural views.

The country park encompasses historical sites, castle ruins, Mugdock Loch and Drumclog Moor, plus a visitor centre, plantaria, cafe and restaurant. Although it is uncertain exactly how old the original castle is, it is documented from the 14th century, so Mugdock has a long history.

We have been visiting the area for many years and recording the landscape, flora and fauna through the seasons. The Colours of Mugdock grew out of our appreciation of the beauty of the area - from its wide open expanses to its smallest details - and this book presents a personal view of the many aspects that make up Mugdock and its environs.

We hope that our photographs delight and interest you in the way that Mugdock continues to delight and interest us. It is an inspirational place where the wonder of nature can be experienced at every turn.
